The Lab Statistics page provides comprehensive usage analytics for your makerspace, including session counts, user metrics, machine usage patterns, and daily activity breakdowns.

Overview​

The Lab Statistics page provides:

  • Summary statistics (total sessions, unique users, hours, average session time)
  • Top machines used during the selected period
  • Daily activity breakdown with visual progress bars
  • Flexible time period selection (Week, Month, Year, or custom range)
  • Auto-logout tracking

Accessing Lab Statistics​

Using the Website​

  1. Navigate to Pinpoint
  2. Sign in using UMD CAS
  3. Click 'Adminland' in the upper right corner
  4. Select your lab from the list
  5. Select Admin Tools
  6. Select Lab Statistics

Using the Kiosk​

  1. Swipe your UID at the kiosk
  2. Select "Continue as Admin" when prompted
  3. Enter your PIN if required
  4. Select your lab
  5. Select Admin Tools
  6. Select Lab Statistics

Using Lab Statistics​

Selecting a Time Period​

You can view statistics for different time periods:

Quick Period Selection​

  • Week: View statistics for the past week
  • Month: View statistics for the past month
  • Year: View statistics for the past year

Click the corresponding button to switch between periods. The active period is highlighted in blue.

Custom Date Range​

For more specific analysis:

  1. Enter a start date in the "Start" field
  2. Enter an end date in the "End" field
  3. Click "Apply" to view statistics for your custom range

Custom date ranges allow you to analyze specific time periods, such as a semester, special event, or comparison between different timeframes.

Understanding Summary Statistics​

The summary cards display four key metrics:

  • Total Sessions: Number of sign-ins during the selected period
  • Unique Users: Number of different people who used the lab
  • Total Hours: Cumulative hours of lab usage
  • Avg Session: Average length of each visit in minutes

Top Machines Used​

This section shows:

  • Machines most frequently used during the period
  • Usage count for each machine
  • Visual progress bars indicating relative usage
  • Machines sorted by usage frequency

The progress bars are relative to the most-used machine, making it easy to compare machine popularity at a glance.

Daily Activity Breakdown​

The daily activity section provides:

  • Day-by-day breakdown of lab usage
  • Number of sessions per day
  • Number of unique users per day
  • Visual progress bars showing daily activity levels

Each day shows:

  • Date in a readable format (e.g., "Jan 15")
  • Session count badge
  • Unique user count badge
  • Progress bar indicating activity level relative to the busiest day

Auto-Logout Information​

If any sessions were automatically logged out during the selected period, an informational alert will appear showing the count of auto-logged sessions.

Refreshing Statistics​

Click the refresh icon in the top right corner to reload the latest statistics data.

Statistics are calculated in real-time based on your swipe log data. Use the refresh button to ensure you're viewing the most current information.
