Welcome to Pinpoint
Pinpoint is a unified makerspace management platform designed to collect metrics and manage equipment access across multiple makerspaces on campus. It consists of a React-based static frontend and a Flask-powered backend serving a RESTful API. Pinpoint is a closed-source application developed by the A. James Clark School of Engineering for the campus community.
Current Version
We follow the semantic versioning standard. The current version is 1.1.0.

Bug Reports and Feature Requests
We value your feedback and contributions to improve Pinpoint. Here's how you can help:
Submitting a Bug Report
To report a bug in Pinpoint:
- Compose a new email to contact+eds-pinpoint-support@io.umd.edu
- Use a clear, concise subject line that summarizes the issue
- In the body of the email, please include:
- A detailed description of the bug
- Steps to reproduce the issue
- What you expected to happen
- What actually happened
- Screenshots (if applicable)
- Your environment details (e.g., browser version, operating system)
Our team will review your report and may contact you for additional information if needed.
Submitting a Feature Request
We use Fider to collect and prioritize feature requests:
- Go to our Fider instance at https://features.pinpoint.umd.edu
- Sign in or create an account if you haven't already
- Check if your idea has already been suggested by searching existing requests
- If it's a new idea, click on "New Post" to create a feature request
- Provide a clear title and detailed description of your proposed feature
- Explain the problem this feature would solve and any alternatives you've considered
- Submit your request
Other users can vote and comment on feature requests. Our team regularly reviews and considers these suggestions for future development.
API Usage
While an API exists and is documented, we do not currently support third-party clients utilizing the backend API.
