This section covers everything you need to know about Pinpoint kiosk terminals — what they are, the hardware they run on, and how they fit into your makerspace's access workflow.
📄️ Setup & configuration
Contact the Engineering Digital Service at eds@umd.edu to set up a kiosk, change its configuration, or move it to another space. Include your makerspace name, kiosk location, and a contact person.
📄️ User flow
The kiosk records visits and tool usage. The step order is fixed; space admins can configure purposes and skip purpose entry or tool selection, but cannot reorder the steps. Users swipe their UMD ID card, choose a check-in purpose, select tools, and complete check-in. They swipe again to update usage or check out.
